The Fairfield County Health Department practices an integrated pest management approach to mosquito control which includes trapping adults to identify problem areas and testing for West Nile Virus, treating standing water with larvicide, draining breeding sites when possible, and spraying to kill adult mosquitoes when needed. FCHD sprays an EPA-certified product to kill adult mosquitoes from an FCHD-marked vehicle during dusk hours. In the case of rain or high winds, the spraying will be rescheduled for the next available day. Any scheduling changes will be posted to our Facebook page.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Walnut Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a hearing followed by a regular meeting on September 10, 2026 at 7 pm, at 11420 Millersport Road, Millersport, OH.     

The Hearing will be a Zoning Variance, Application 26-106. An application was submitted by James Montie of 4932 Island Ave. Thornville, for a reduction in the Side-yard setbacks from 10 feet to 9 feet. Reduction in the Rear setback from 20 feet to 5 ft 5 inches and a Reduction in the Front setback from 25 feet to 13 feet 5 inches to build a new home. The Zoning Resolution calls for the following setbacks: Front 25 ft, Rear 20 ft and Side 10 ft. This property is Zoned R-2 (One- and Two-Family Residential District) Parcel # 0460206700 and 0460206600 (This property is between Decker and Buckeye Avenues.)

Geiger Rd is closed east of 5680 Geiger Rd to New Salem Rd due to culvert washout.  It will be closed until replacement can be made.  On a brighter note, Woolard Rd is now open.

Oil must be clean, free of water/antifreeze, in sealed containers.

Drop off jugs and pails at the rear of the front building near the red tanks. 55-gallon drums can be emptied by appointment.

NOTICE of the 90% complete Construction Plans available for viewing. Walnut Township Lakeside Phase 2-4 Stormwater Conveyance Project – 90% design complete.

NOTE: This project, Phase 2-4 and Phase 1, is still estimated for construction to be completed in 2026.  

The Lakeside Stormwater Conveyance Project will address flooding concerns within the Lakeside neighborhood in Walnut Township, Ohio. While adequate storm drainage is currently lacking throughout the project area, flooding in the area is exacerbated during extreme events from the backwater of South Fork Licking River (SFLR) and its tributaries. The proposed improvements will mitigate flooding in the area through the installation of storm sewers.

This memo accompanies the Stage 3 plan set deliverable for Phases 2-4 of the project and aims to provide Walnut Township with an overview of the storm sewer design and the supporting hydraulic calculations. Design includes storm sewer installation and any minor grading revisions necessary to facilitate drainage to the proposed structures. Phase 1 Design was completed by EMH&T and submitted independently to Walnut Township.
